Taylor brings a unique perspective to government contracts law shaped by more than a decade of mentorship under a highly experienced former U.S. Air Force Contracting Officer. For 11 years, the principal attorney worked at a national government contracts consulting firm alongside a contracting officer who held an unlimited warrant and oversaw major federal procurements, including missile defense systems and other complex defense programs.

Consulting and Legal Counsel for Government Contractors Who Need Clarity, Not Guesswork

Benson Law Office helps government contractors and construction firms resolve disputes, manage risk, and stay compliant in an environment where small mistakes can become expensive problems.

This firm is built for executives and project teams who need clear answers, sound strategy, and legal counsel that understands how federal contracts work in practice, not just on paper.

Led by Experience, Grounded in Reality

Benson Law Office is led by J. Taylor Benson, a government contracts and construction attorney based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Taylor works directly with contractors nationwide who face claims, bid protests, terminations, compliance challenges, and performance disputes on federal and state projects.

His approach is practical and outcome-driven. Every matter is evaluated holistically through the lens of business impact, timing, documentation, and leverage, and legal theory.

Clients work directly with Taylor throughout the process.

Focused on Results Across the Contract Lifecycle

Taylor has represented contractors in high-stakes matters before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Boards of Contract Appeals, and the GAO, as well as in mediation and arbitration.

His experience includes:

  • Bid protests resulting in overturned award decisions and recovery of multi-million-dollar contracts
  • Defense of wrongful terminations for default, converted into terminations for convenience with cost recovery and improved CPARS ratings
  • Requests for Equitable Adjustment involving delays, defective specifications, differing site conditions, and productivity loss
  • Claims avoidance systems that reduce disputes before they escalate
  • Counseling on FAR compliance, audits, investigations, and False Claims Act exposure

This breadth of experience allows the firm to advise clients not only on what the contract requires, but on how agencies actually respond when issues arise.

A Straightforward Approach to Government Contracts Law

Benson Law Office was built to serve contractors who value clarity, preparation, and decisive action.

The firm emphasizes:

  • Early identification of issues to preserve options and leverage
  • Strategic use of administrative remedies before litigation becomes unavoidable
  • Clear communication with executive leadership and project teams
  • Practical risk assessment grounded in real-world outcomes

The goal is always the same: protect the contractor’s work, reputation, and bottom line.
